Foreword
When the space where we live is no longer safe. Threats no longer come from outside the borders of the country but from within our own country, where we build our dreams. Networks of Indonesia untuk Kemanusiaan (IKa) from 10 countries gathers together to support and share ideas. “News from the Ground” a photo exhibition that took place at Kedai Kebun Forum, Yogyakarta from 23rd till 28th February 2018 was a simple building, a small narrative about love, optimism, and cooperation. The photographs come from the camera of amateurs, ordinary people, those, who capture everyday events around them. They are the people of Indonesia, Serbia, Georgia, Palestine, Northern Ireland, Columbia, Nepal, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The connection of thought and communication imagined, embodied with spider webs on the floor connecting the 10 community organizations that gather.
About the Exhibition
Photos exhibition about people, our friends, friends of friends, mothers of our fathers, our siblings and friends, unknowns, loved ones, losers, and other stories of planet Earth whose residents love to fight its own neighbor. Part of the networks conference of Indonesia untuk Kemanusiaan (IKa) – Foundation for Peace (FFP). Layout exhibition by Anang Saptoto and Yustina Neni.
