Those two-day, hall of Kedai Kebun Forum (KKF) which located on the second floor, just above the gallery space, looks hectic and busy. The light is on, the door was opened and seen a lot of activities. Hall of KKF normally uses for routine agenda German Film Club screening, Lelagu, acoustic performances that combine music and visual art, or art activity such discussions and workshops, this time inserted by another agenda. On September 29 and 30, 2016, there is a music rehearsal session. Seem like a music festival but on a small scale, can be found a few names of homeland musicians. They are Frau, Cholil Mahmud ERK (Efek Rumah Kaca), Sisir Tanah, and Prihatmoko “Moki” Catur of Gemati. But the main character of the rehearsal session is Dialita. A women’s choir who will launch their debut album.
A bit about Dialita. Is a choir whose the members are families, relatives or victims themselves of the 1965 tragedy. Two of Dialita members are former political prisoners who were jailed without trial. Although now they are no longer young, mostly Dialita members are above fifty years old, but the rehearsal session seemed full of passion and enthusiasm.
The atmosphere of Dialita rehearsal welcoming their launch album in the hall of KKF was so dynamic. The choir conductor seen discussing with Frau, a musician and pianist, as the music composer in this project. The moment recorder persons are busy taking pictures and videos for documentation purposes. The production team, Yudistira Satria and Adi Adriandi, back and forth to make sure all the needs for the album launch concert are fulfilled, from technical to non-technical matters. In the back corner of the hall also seen the artistic team were busy completing a visual illustration by artist Wedhar Riyadi which also became the album cover of Dialita.
This rehearsal by Dialita is a part of the process of creating a historical record that initiated by Agung Kurniawan, an artist who is also artistic director of KKF. For Agung, the spirit and the songs of Dialita that full of facts and historical projections are too bad if just buried or evaporates away. After a one-year process, Dialita album entitled The World Belongs to Us (Dunia Milik Kita) was finally finished and launched on October 1, 2016, at the campus of Sanata Dharma University Yogyakarta. |Yumaya Mija|
