A Photo Exhibition by Kurniadi Widodo
Curator : LIR
Exploring the photos of Kurniadi Widodo sometimes feels like exploring a landscape of memory that is both neat and full, mixed, and presented in awkward beauty. As a good reminder, he put these pictures in a regular collection with a personal understanding. As soon as he wants to take it, he knows which space in his memory must be addressed. The landscape in his work becomes something that is quite dominating, with beauty that often feels awkward but poetic. Something that is in the speed of the pace of travel is often overlooked, and even invisible to others. These photos then become an important note between speed and time that is often unwittingly making all of the memories one by one fall in the past: left behind, piled up by new events (memories), and then forgotten in one corner of memory. Even in this situation, Kurniadi Widodo deliberately tried to record it in momentary situations before being replaced by another event in a matter of seconds. (LIR)
Loci Memoriae is one of three “Curated by LIR” exhibition series in collaboration with KKF. “Curated by LIR” is an exhibition series curated by LIR (Mira Asriningtyas & Dito Yuwono). In this series there will be three solo exhibits from: Kurniadi Widodo, Alfin Agnuba, and Dimaz Maulana in September, October and November 2018.
