Introduction
For some people, writing a book usually is considered as special and exclusive work, so that it takes long time to work on, and need economical strength which is interfered by convoluted social status. The common manuscript, which is well-known by human being in general, is diary. Because of its personal and sensitive characteristics, diary is rarely to be published. But, diary has a very high historical value when the owner is pass-away.
One of books production methods, which are striving against the social and economical level boundaries, is the emergence of Zine. Zine was pioneered by the communities of science-fiction movie lovers in the 1960s, and then, it became popular among the punkers in 1970s. It was also encouraged by the ‘do-it-yourself’ culture, which was successfully dismissed the notion that ‘making a book is difficult; it must be in accordance with the social norms and journalistic rules; and it only ought to be made by public figure. At the same time, the movement of the Fluxus artists is starting to use book as their media of art.
Information technology and graphic, which are increasingly thrive nowadays, certainly have a very strong influence in producing a book. Software and PDF format, which are developed by Adobe, weblog, ‘on-demand’ printing machine, and also the binding technique that can be ordered per unit, give easiness for everybody who wants to produce a book by themselves, easily and cheaply.
This “Codex Code” book exhibition that initiated by FX. Woto Wibowo, invites some artists, designers, writers, researchers, music lovers, curators, and also bloggers to make a book. The book here is as the medium of expressing art, the same with videos, poems, or paintings. The book could be manuscript only in one copy or more. ***

Saya, Dia, dan Layar | Me, Him, and Screen

There is a special way in reading my book. Please read the instruction that I attached on the wall.
3. Bambang “Toko” Witjaksono
“ALHAMDULILLAH, STUDIOKU SEDIKIT RAPI” | “Thanks God, My Studio A Little Bit Neat”
It started when I saw so many things scattered around on my studio’s floor. There were exhibition invitations, meeting invitations, catalogues, cigarette packs, empty bottle of mineral water, used clothes, old invoices, plastic bags, etc.
Those things, or we can say “garbage”, the left over things, actually have a memory for me, especially when I read them again, sometime behind old invoices I had written someone’s email address whom I just met, or new friend’s mobile phone number, etc. sometimes it made me faltered to throw it away, so I just leave it and feel falter to clean up my studio.
4. Farah Wardani
Highlights of Wawah’s Geekdom
Farah Wardani featuring Web Jockey M. Dzulhami Yahya
My book is multimedia book, selected items from my blog: farahwardani.multiply.com.
5. Grace Samboh
Dari Tugu ke Sekaten | From Tugu to Sekaten
fearturing Pitra Ayu
Everything is interesting thing: at least, that is the way I think. This kind of thinking usually simplifies me to get through the day. When I don’t know about this: I will learn! When I don’t know about that: I will learn! Sometimes, there are things that I see for many times, so that I think that I have known it; or at least already common with it. Actually, “common with” is not the same with “know” it, moreover “understand” it.
“To know what you know you know,” someone told me, a person whom accidentally met at one event in this city of art and culture. Wow, I thought, it’s quite interesting. The line seems repetitive and simple, although it is quite difficult to apply it in real life: to recognize what you realize you know.
For Yogyakarta people, Tugu (monument that placed right in the center of Yogyakarta) and Sekaten (annual traditional event in Yogyakarta) are not new things. But, does getting used to those things mean that know about them? Not for sure. This project is started from the familiarity of Tugu (as one of photo site for tourists) and Sekaten (as annual event which “must be visited” for everybody, either the local people or the tourists).
6. Henry Foundation

My book contains some drawings of my CDs collection cover and my favorite single band. Because those covers still meant much to this life; they are very memorabilia. Maybe, for some people nowadays, already forget the coolness of those covers. Now, they prefer to download the MP3 and maybe already forget what the cover looks like. Or maybe because they like more on downloading the pictures at BB17 ?
7. Ikhsan Syahirul Alim
“Until the Goat Take Us!!!!
The title is inspired by the documentary film about black metal music, entitled “Until the Light Take Us”. In this book, I totally explore on the culture of black metal according to my opinion. I start with:

• Love
• Gossip
• Logo
• Make up
• Fashion
• Culinary
• Arts
• Horoscopes
• Tips and tricks
• Sports
• Pictures
It is just like gossip tabloid, such as NOVA, which discuss more anxious on youngsters.

Then, I understand it as personally history archiving. Names, time and events in this book are facts; except that there are few things were edited and not posted for some reasons.
10. Malaikat
“Eat This”
Eat This is clipping collections, and some writings of mine about “1 OF 1000 WAYS TO BE FAMOUS”. This book tells about the people’s efforts and hard-work to achieve success and be famous, although sometime in the process, it adverse or benefit other people.
Perhaps the content of this book is able to explain the truth of the anthropologist’s theory on the tendency of becoming selfish, greedy, destructive, and aggressive, as the main characteristics of Homo sapiens.
11. Muhammad Akbar
“logociti”
Music by Fix Future, (EP) / 2009 / compact cassette (Suriakanta records)
Just remembering the good times by colleting music in the cassettes format, buying complete album of local or international bands; I used to buy the major and independent bands’ albums by saving my allowance. The same treatment, I bought the albums of my favorite bands/musicians, then I enjoyed one fully album, enjoying every second of the first song, the second, until it finished, and then I reversed it to side B, without easily changing the track of the songs as in iTunes. I enjoyed the passage of time, lied down in my room, saw the cover; and if there were lyrics on the cover, I read it until I memorized it.
12. Uji “Hahan” Handoko
